Italian kit for production sites discharging industrial or first-flush wastewater to the public sewer, to surface water or to soil, and for those abstracting water from wells or watercourses. Covers renewal of the discharge authorisation and of the single environmental authorisation (AUA), analytical self-monitoring, maintenance of treatment plants, emptying of separators and tanks, and the annual abstraction return. It does NOT cover domestic household discharges, uncontaminated rainwater, contaminated-site remediation or ship discharges at sea.

Log the periodic water meter readings
Read and log the abstraction meters, and where present the discharge meters, at regular intervals, so as to build a reliable time series for the annual return and to spot leaks or abnormal consumption. The evidence is the dated and signed reading log. Applies to all sites with abstraction or discharge meters installed: the law requires the meter and the transmission of results but not a reading frequency, and the monthly cadence is good practice that ISO 14001 auditors expect as evidence of environmental monitoring.

Empty oil separators, grit chambers and Imhoff tanks
Have an authorised contractor empty the oil separators, grit chambers, first-flush tanks and septic tanks, sending the extracted sludge and liquid waste for disposal with a proper transport form. The evidence is the waste identification form together with the service report. Applies to sites with yards exposed to run-off, car washes, workshops, fuel stations and premises with settling or separation tanks: the interval is almost always set by the authorisation and, where none is given, must be determined from the actual filling level checked periodically.

Meter water abstractions and file the annual return
Anyone abstracting water from wells or surface water bodies installs and keeps in working order flow and volume meters and transmits the measurement results to the granting authority, normally through an annual return of the volumes abstracted. The evidence is the meter reading log together with the return receipt. Applies to holders of a public water abstraction concession and of notified wells, generally excluding small domestic abstractions; the return date is not set nationally but by the granting Region or Province, so it must be read on the concession terms.

Run analytical self-monitoring on the discharge
Have a laboratory take and analyse a sample of the discharge at the inspection chamber, with the parameters and frequency prescribed by the authorisation or by the sewer operator's regulation, and keep the certificate; if values exceed the emission limits, corrective action and, where prescribed, notification to the authority must follow. The evidence is the analysis certificate with the sample chain of custody. Applies to holders of industrial wastewater discharges: the 12-month cadence is a default to be replaced with the one in the authorisation, often quarterly or six-monthly for discharges containing dangerous substances into the public sewer.

Apply for renewal of the single environmental authorisation
The AUA lasts fifteen years from issue and bundles up to seven environmental permits — discharges, emissions, noise impact, sludge use, waste notifications; the renewal application must be filed with the one-stop business desk at least six months before expiry and, if timely, the activity continues until the new decision. The evidence is the one-stop desk receipt for the renewal application. Applies to SMEs and installations not subject to an AIA that hold at least one of the permits replaced by the AUA, whereas AIA-regulated companies follow the AIA review instead.

Apply for renewal of the discharge authorisation
An ordinary discharge authorisation is valid for four years from issue and renewal must be applied for one year before expiry; if the application is timely, the discharge may provisionally continue under the previous conditions until the new decision is issued. The evidence is the filing protocol number of the renewal application. Applies to discharges authorised under the ordinary regime of art. 124: for discharges containing the dangerous substances of art. 108, renewal must be expressly granted within six months of expiry, failing which the discharge must cease immediately.

Maintain the wastewater treatment plant
Carry out scheduled maintenance of the treatment or pre-treatment plant — tanks, pumps, blowers, probes, reagent dosing — verifying correct operation and logging the work in the operating register. The evidence is the service report together with the register entry. Applies to sites with a treatment or pre-treatment plant upstream of the discharge: the interval is the one set by the authorisation and by the operating manual, while operational checks on levels, dosing and alarms are typically weekly or monthly and are handled as operational control.
