Italian kit for companies operating lifting equipment, mobile elevating work platforms, pressure equipment or lifts. Covers the mandatory periodic inspections under Annex VII of D.Lgs. 81/2008 (INAIL for the first inspection, the local authorities or authorised bodies thereafter), lift inspections under DPR 162/1999, and in-house checks on forklifts. It does NOT cover CE marking, operator training and licensing, or checks on ropes and chains used as lifting accessories.

Have the functional check of pressure equipment carried out
The functional check of pressure equipment and assemblies is two-yearly for group 1 category III and IV vessels, unstable-gas vessels, generators and vessels for superheated liquids other than water, and steam generators, which also undergo a two-yearly internal inspection; it is four-yearly for group 1 and group 2 category I and II vessels, and five-yearly for piping and group 1 liquid vessels. The evidence is the check report, entered in the registration book. Applies to compressors with a receiver, autoclaves, steam generators, LPG tanks, compressed-air receivers and other notifiable pressure equipment: the category and fluid group are shown on the EC declaration of conformity.

Have the lift inspected every two years
The building owner or their legal representative carries out regular maintenance and has the lift or goods lift inspected every two years by the local health authority, by the provincial labour directorate for installations in industrial or agricultural premises, or by a notified certification body, bearing the cost. The evidence is the inspection report recorded in or attached to the lift logbook. Applies to lifts and goods lifts in private service installed in residential, industrial and commercial buildings: the duty falls on the building owner and, in apartment buildings, on the building administrator, not on the user.

Inspect suspended platforms and mast-climbing platforms every 2 years
Two-yearly inspection for suspended platforms and their winches, hand-operated vertical truck-mounted platforms, mast-climbing work platforms, and discontinuous centrifugal extractors above the 450 basket-diameter-times-rpm threshold. The evidence is the periodic inspection report. Applies to façade maintenance companies, construction firms using mast-climbing platforms, industrial laundries and plants with centrifugal extractors.

Inspect mobile lifting equipment every year
Annual inspection for material-lifting equipment above 200 kg, not hand-operated, mobile or transferable, used in construction, steelmaking, port or mining activities, or manufactured more than 10 years ago; the same cycle covers variable-inclination aerial ladders, motorised truck-mounted elevating platforms, self-propelled telescopic-boom handlers, construction hoists, and centrifugal extractors running flammable solvents with a basket above 500 mm. The evidence is the periodic inspection report, with the equipment logbook kept up to date. Applies to truck-mounted cranes, mobile cranes, limited-structure cranes, telescopic handlers, motorised truck-mounted platforms, aerial ladders and construction hoists, taking account of both the sector of use and the year of manufacture.

Have the six-monthly lift maintenance carried out
The licensed maintainer must, at least every six months for lifts and once a year for goods lifts, check the integrity and efficiency of the safety gear, the overspeed governor and the other safety devices, examine ropes, chains and their attachments in detail, verify the electrical insulation and earthing, and record the results in the logbook. The evidence is the logbook entry together with the maintenance contract. Applies to all lifts in private service and to goods lifts: the physical duty falls on the maintainer, but the owner is answerable for having entrusted maintenance to a licensed party.

Have the ten-yearly integrity check carried out
All pressure equipment and assemblies subject to inspection — groups 1 and 2, vessels, steam generators and piping — must undergo an integrity check every ten years, including wall-thickness and condition assessment. The check normally requires taking the equipment out of service and must be planned well in advance; the evidence is the integrity check report. Applies to all pressure equipment subject to periodic inspection under Annex VII.

Request the first periodic inspection from INAIL
When a piece of equipment listed in Annex VII is put into service, the employer notifies INAIL and requests the first periodic inspection, which INAIL carries out within 45 days of the request; once that deadline has passed without result, the employer may turn to any other authorised public or private body. The evidence is the commissioning notice together with the first inspection report bearing the assigned registration number. Applies to every piece of equipment listed in Annex VII put into service for the first time or transferred to a new employer.

Run periodic in-house checks on forklifts
Schedule in-house checks on counterbalance and reach trucks not subject to statutory periodic inspection — lift-chain condition and elongation, forks, hydraulics, brakes, safety devices and operator protection — following the manufacturer's manual, with a suggested quarterly frequency. The evidence is the check sheet signed by whoever performs it. Applies to companies using counterbalance, reach or order-picking trucks; self-propelled telescopic-boom handlers instead follow the statutory annual inspection covered by a separate rule in this kit.

Inspect fixed lifting equipment every 3 years
Three-yearly inspection for fixed material-lifting equipment above 200 kg, not hand-operated, in regular use and manufactured no more than 10 years ago, for example workshop overhead cranes and fixed hoists. The evidence is the periodic inspection report. Applies to overhead and gantry cranes, winches and hoists permanently installed, in regular use and less than 10 years old: at the tenth year the classification must be reviewed because the cycle shortens.
